Some computer outlets are not sending the install disks with the new laptop or desktop containing these operating systems. I thought this would be a great posting for anyone who owns any of the following Windows Operating Systems;

Some manufactures are not sending the installation disks or a recovery disk when you purchase a new laptop or desktop computer. Though there is some debate on the reasoning they aren't being shipped, Microsoft has acknowledged this as a problem and has created some recovery disks to help those folks out. Now, I can't figure out why you can't download these directly from the Microsoft website but you can get them from using BitTorrent to download them. Should a direct Microsoft site link for these download appear I will update this news item. I have downloaded each of the 4 versions and burned them to disk and they will be available to any of my clients upon request. Please understand that I do not warrant the use of these or can I predict how they will work for you, but I will mention that the download (Vista 64-Bit for instance) did help me and I am sure they would be useful to someone else as well. I am only posting this as an informational related item and I take no responsibility for any end results.

**How to use the files**

1) You have to download the BitTorrent Software. This is essentially a Peer to peer software package that is free. I am not a fan at all of peer to peer software so once I downloaded the 4 files I removed it from my PC. http://www.bittorrent.com/

2) Go to the site where the downloads are available from. http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/

3) Check your computer to see which OS version and xx-Bit you are running and download the appropriate version.

4) Once downloaded you will need to change the file extension to ".iso" and burn this as an image to a CD or DVD.

5) Once this has been completed you will now have a recovery backup of your Vista or 7 operating system.

To actually use the CD or DVD you will need to boot from it, meaning it will need to be in the CD/DVD ROM drive upon restart. You may also need to change your boot options so that your computer knows to start by looking at the CD/DVD ROM first.
